English | Español

Note: The TELPAS Online Reading Test Student Tutorials have been updated for 2013.

Follow the steps below to access the TELPAS online reading test student tutorials.

Step 1: Remove any previous versions of the tutorials.

Previous versions of the TELPAS tutorials used to prepare students for prior TELPAS administrations are no longer applicable and should be removed. Follow these instructions to complete this step:

  1. Locate obsolete tests or tutorials. Navigate to the folder where your tests or tutorials are installed. If you chose the default location during installation, navigate to the following directory: C:\Program Files\PEM\ePat\TestFiles.

NOTE: Each test or tutorial is located and labeled in a separate sub-folder within the directory. To remove obsolete tests or tutorials from prior TELPAS administrations, manually remove folders that begin with "Interface A," "Interface B," or "TX RPTE."

If the computer workstation is also used for other online test administrations, there may be additional student tutorials or tests located in sub-folders in the same directory. You need only remove folders that include "TELPAS" or "TX RPTE" in the filename.

  2. When the Confirm Folder Delete pop-up box appears, verify that the folder includes "Interface" or "TX RPTE" in the title, and then click the Yes button.

Step 2: Access the tutorials through an Internet browser.

The 2013 TELPAS tutorials do not need to be downloaded nor be installed. The new tutorials are available over the Internet in the browser-based version of TestNav, TestNav 7.

Click on the appropriate link below to launch the tutorial in your default Internet browser. Supported browsers are identified in the Minimum System Requirements document, which can be found with the Technology Information resources at Home > Resources > Information.

TELPAS Online Reading Test Student Tutorial Administration Directions for Grades 2–12

Prior to using the tutorial(s) with students, you should familiarize yourself with the administration directions. As with the TELPAS reading administration directions to be used with the operational assessments, the tutorial administration directions are designed to take into account the difficulties that some ELLs may have understanding oral directions in English, as well as some students' limited experience with standardized testing. You may adjust the language and specificity of the directions to the level of English proficiency of your students. Administration directions for each tutorial are available in one publication at the link below.
