STAAR OOD/OOS Registration

What is STAAR OOD testing?

STAAR OOD testing allows students who will be away from their home districts for a test administration to take an assessment at a participating district. Assessment results of OOD testers are sent to the students' home districts.

Who should register for STAAR OOD testing?

Students who did not meet the passing standard on the first two administrations of a STAAR grade 5 or 8 mathematics or reading assessment and who need to participate in the third administration in a district other than their home district may be registered by the home district for STAAR grades 5 and 8 OOD testing.

Students who will be participating as first-time testers or as retesters in a STAAR end-of-course (EOC) assessment in a district other than their home district may register for STAAR EOC OOD testing.

NOTE: Students testing at a different campus within their home district should NOT register for STAAR OOD testing.

How can students be registered for STAAR OOD testing?

Districts must register students for STAAR grades 5 and 8 OOD testing using the online registration system. Districts can register students or students can register themselves for STAAR EOC OOD testing using the online registration system. When can students be registered for STAAR OOD testing?

Districts should register grades 5 and 8 students online during the June STAAR grades 5 and 8 OOD registration period. Districts should register STAAR EOC students or the students can register themselves online during the appropriate STAAR EOC OOD registration period. Refer to the Calendar of Events for STAAR OOD registration dates.

What if the STAAR OOD registration deadline is missed?

The home district should contact the testing district before the date of the test to confirm availability, starting time, and location. As a reminder, students taking an EOC assessment must bring a photo ID on the day of testing.

When should students arrive to an OOD test site?

Students should arrive at an OOD test site at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of the administration. Students taking an EOC assessment must bring a photo ID on the day of testing.

What is STAAR EOC OOS testing?

STAAR EOC OOS testing allows examinees who are no longer enrolled in school to take an assessment during a test administration at a participating district. Assessment results of OOS testers are sent to the home addresses provided and to the districts that will be providing examinees their diplomas.

Who should register for STAAR EOC OOS testing?

STAAR EOC OOS registration is for examinees who have not passed a STAAR EOC assessment and are no longer enrolled in school but have otherwise completed requirements for graduation.

How do examinees register for STAAR EOC OOS testing?

STAAR EOC OOS examinees must register to test at a participating campus by completing the online registration form during the registration period for each of the STAAR EOC administrations. A list of STAAR EOC OOS test sites is available for each STAAR EOC administration.

What if the STAAR EOC OOS registration deadline is missed?

Examinees who do not register online by the deadline may still take the assessment at participating campuses at the testing location's discretion. Examinees should contact the campus well before the testing date to ensure that the campus can accommodate them. Campus personnel will assist with the on-site registration process. Examinees must bring a photo ID.

What should STAAR EOC OOS examinees do on the day of the test?

On the day of testing, examinees should arrive at the test site 30 minutes before the designated testing time. Examinees must present a photo ID, such as a driver's license, DPS ID, military ID, school ID, or resident alien card to test. Examinees will not be allowed to take the test without a photo ID.
